ALKU issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.
Last Friday, the ALKrew joined together to give back to an important local cause. Just an hour from ALKU’s Headquarters in Andover, MA, the town of Worcester, MA suffered a horrible tragedy. Lt. Jason Menard of the Worcester Fire Department passed away from injuries endured after heroic efforts in a fire rescue. Lt. Menard saved two of his fellow firefighters during their efforts.
Members of the ALKrew joined forces to spread the word about this local tragedy and to get the whole company together to raise funds for Lt. Menard’s family in his honor.
The energy in the office on Friday showed that events like this are bigger than our jobs and the hustle and bustle of the end of the quarter. Everyone took a moment to stop and reflect that life is fleeting and cannot be taken for granted. It was a sobering moment to be a part of, but also incredibly inspiring to see our people put down the phones, step away from their computers, and take a moment to join together for a family in need. It was a very humanizing experience and a great reminder that this time of year in particular, around the holidays, is a great time to slow down and remember what is truly important. While the circumstances that led to Friday’s rallying of support were tragic, it was amazing to see all of the ALKrew across offices and states, come together to support Lt. Menard’s memory and help relieve some of the burdens his family is now facing.
The donations flowed in on Friday morning, with over $3,000 raised in an hour. The donations came from all types of employees, from people in their first week at ALKU, all the way to directors and founders.
The humility exhibited by the ALKrew on Friday is a perfect example of what makes ALKU a unique company. Throughout the day, we learned of employees connected to the Worcester area that had personal connections to the incident and felt greatly appreciated and supported by ALKU.
Thank you to all of the ALKrew who joined together on a Friday morning to make a large impact in a deserving family’s life. If you are interested in learning more about how you can support Lt.
