Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.
Crisp evenings, quiet beaches, colorful bittersweet, crimson moors, festive pumpkins; oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics, wood carvings, photographs, and sparkling jewels…….
Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) is delighted to announce the opening of the 2019 People’s Choice Exhibition, with a festive autumnal reception on Friday September 27, 6-8 P.M., in the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street. The show will be on display through Monday, October 21.
“A long standing favorite among our patrons, the People’s Choice exhibition continues to showcase a wide array of styles and mediums, and this year should be no exception,” said AAN artistic director Robert Frazier. “This interactive show not only offers the viewer the chance to enjoy the numerous works by our talented artists, they have the added satisfaction of being a part of the exhibition by voting for their favorite work" added Frazier.
“Traditionally we host fourteen exhibitions over the course of the year, however this is the one show where community members and visitors actually participate in the show by choosing their favorite pieces during the first week of the show. The staff then tallies the votes, and the winning works of art are highlighted with a gold medallion, which gives our artists well deserved bragging rights. All of the highlighted works will be on display for the duration of the exhibition,” said AAN gallery sales manager Peter J. Greenhalgh.
The Solo Show Spotlight Artist during this exhibition is Zoe Markham.
Generous support of the exhibition comes from our friends at Workshop/APD.
The People’s Choice Exhibition will be on display from September 27 through October 21 at the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington St. in the heart of Nantucket’s Cultural District, just a stones’ throw from Main St. The gallery is open Monday – Saturday, 10 A.M. – 5 P.M., closed 2-2:30.
