Census Bureau reports Boston population was 669,158 in 2017


Boston, Massachusetts had a population of 669,158 people in 2017, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Massachusetts Business Daily.

The median age was 32, with 51.9 percent of the total population being female and 48.1 percent male.

The state’s total population in 2017 was 6,789,319.

An agency of the U.S. Federal Statistical System, the Census Bureau is responsible for compiling statistical facts about the American people, places and economy. Data for this story was compiled from the bureau’s American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.
