About 44 percent of the 1,210 degrees and certificates handed out by Emerson College in 2017-18 were to students in visual and performing arts programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Boston conferred 520 bachelor's degrees and 12 master's degrees in visual and performing arts programs.
But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in cinematography and film/video production. Data shows the school gave out 420 bachelor's degrees in cinematography and film/video production, followed by 125 bachelor's degrees in general marketing/marketing management and 105 bachelor's degrees in creative writing.
The college enrolled 4,459 students for 2017-18, including 3,812 in undergraduate programs and 647 in graduate programs.
