Baystate Medical Center issued the following announcement on June 6.

Though the clouds were out, the 14th annual Walk of Champions to support cancer services at Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center brought more than 300 walkers to the Quabbin Reservoir to show their support.

The event raised more than $60,000, and in the past these funds supported the expansion of the oncology unit at Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center. To date, the event has raised more than $904,000.

Walk of Champions began in 2006, after John O’Neill and his family were touched by the care and compassion that his mother received. John decided he wanted to give something back to the community and Walk of Champions was born.
