6.8 percent of Massachusetts Institute of Technology students played sports on university teams in 2016-2017


In 2016-2017, 6.8 percentage of Massachusetts Institute of Technology students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

Massachusetts Institute of Technology has 4,547 undergraduate students, of which 54 percent are men and 46 percent are women, and a total student body of 11,466 students. Of these students, 425 men and 352 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 4.3 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at Massachusetts Institute of Technology with the most participants are rowing (108), track and field, indoor (94) and track and field, outdoor (89).
