11.2 percent of Worcester Polytechnic Institute students played sports on university teams in 2016-2017


In 2016-2017, 11.2 percentage of Worcester Polytechnic Institute students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

Worcester Polytechnic Institute has 4,435 undergraduate students, of which 64 percent are men and 36 percent are women, and a total student body of 6,642 students. Of these students, 457 men and 290 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 4.3 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at Worcester Polytechnic Institute with the most participants are all track combined (207), rowing (120) and football (117).
